Terry Cade, hailed as “a true jazz vocalist" and described as “extraordinary” by the Toronto Star, was born and raised in Toronto. From a young age, she devoted her life to music and over the course of decades, she has established herself as a respected musician, composer, and educator.

 

Her extensive training in jazz and classical music began during her early teens and encompassed studies at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Conservatory of Music, York University, Berklee College of Music, and The Manhattan School of Music. She has worked with such notable figures as Anne Marie Moss, Meredith D’Ambrosio, Suba Sankaran and Fred Stone. In addition to leading Vocal Jazz Master Classes in Toronto and NYC, Cade is a highly sought after vocal coach. She has received multiple awards from The Canada Council for the Arts, The Ontario Arts Council, and FACTOR. 

 

Regarded as one of Canada's premier jazz vocalists, Cade has developed a distinctive and iconoclastic "musical voice". She is described as creatively fearless and “always ready, willing and able to take the risk of bravely applying her artistry", (All Music Guide) 

 

She has recorded two critically acclaimed albums  - "Sometimes I'm Happy" and "All in a Day's Dream" and has shared the stage with such luminaries as John Hicks, Ratzo Harris, Victor Jones, Lou Marini Jr., Cameron Brown, Jonathan Goldsmith and Dave Restivo.

 

Cade was a featured performer in the "Women in Jazz" series at The Texaco New York Jazz Festival.
